Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how Abacus Stars ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects information in the following Android apps that we publish on Google Play:

Both apps are made by Abacus Stars for students of the SIP Abacus centres run by Noor's Academy in Nellikuppam and Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, India. Students use the apps to practise abacus and mental maths quizzes, earn stars and see their progress.
Who can use the apps
The apps are for enrolled students of our centres, many of whom are children. A student cannot create an account in the app. The centre creates the account when a parent or guardian enrols the child, and the parent or guardian gives consent at that time. The centre gives the student a student ID and a PIN to sign in.
Information we collect
- Account details from the centre: the student's name, student ID, centre and current abacus level. The centre enters these details. The app shows them to the student.
- Sign-in PIN: the PIN the student uses to sign in. The student can change it in the app.
- Quiz activity: quiz answers, scores, time taken, stars and titles earned. We use these to show progress, leader boards and records within the student's centre.
- Notification token: Firebase Cloud Messaging (a Google service) gives the device a token so that we can send class and quiz notifications. We do not use this token to identify the student.
- Settings on the device: preferences such as sound on or off, and the sign-in session. These stay on the device.
Information we do not collect
The apps do not collect location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data, phone numbers, or the advertising ID. The apps contain no advertisements and no analytics or tracking tools. Text-to-speech for spoken questions runs on the device.
How we use the information
- To sign the student in and keep the account secure.
- To run quizzes, award stars and titles, and show progress to the student and to the centre staff.
- To send notifications about classes and quizzes.
- To check for app updates.
We do not sell, rent or share student information with anyone for advertising or marketing.
Third-party services
- Google Play Services – app delivery and in-app updates.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging – push notifications.
These services may process technical device information, such as the device model and operating system version, under their own privacy policies.
Storage and security
Student information is stored on servers that Abacus Stars operates. All data between the app and our servers travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Only the student, the student's centre staff and Abacus Stars can see a student's account details. Quiz leader boards show a student's name and score only to other students of the same centre.
How long we keep information
We keep a student's information while the student is enrolled at the centre, and afterwards as part of the centre's academic records. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete it at any time (see below).
Your choices and rights
- A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete the student's information. Email us at the address below or speak to the centre. We reply within 30 days.
- You can turn off notifications in the Android settings of the device.
- Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on the device.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above.
